ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE – Cement™

Cement – Resin/RMGI Hybrid – Dual Cure – Lute & Bond – Fluoride, Calcium & Phosphate

The Smart Universal(1) Cement

Zirconia, e.max, metal & more

ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-CEMENT™ continuously defends your indirect restorations against microleakage2 and secondary caries.3 It is universally indicated (zirconia, e.max, metal/PFM, and more), and can be used as a luting cement in retentive preps and bonded in non-retentive preps. ACTIVA BioACTIVE-CEMENT is the superior day-to-day cement for your caries management armamentarium.

#1 Bioactive Protection from the #1 cause of crown failures – Secondary caries caused by microleakage4

1ACTIVA™ BioACTIVE-CEMENT™ is indicated for use with all zirconia, ceramic, stainless steel, and composite-based indirect restorations, except for porcelain veneers.

3Activa Bioactive physically seals the margin of the material and tooth interface through mineral apatite formation, subsequently protecting against microleakage, the leading cause of secondary caries and recurrent decay. Scanning electron micrographs of the Activa Bioactive-Restorative groups showed a ‘‘thicker acid-base resistant hybrid-like layer with a distinct crystallization pattern.’’ (Raghip AG, Comisi JC, Hamama HH, Mahmoud SH. In vitro elemental and micromorphological analysis of the resin-dentin interface of bioactive and bulk-fill composites. Am J Dent. 2023;36{1}:3-7.)

Step by Step With Tuff-Temp Plus and ACTIVA BioACTIVE Cement with Dr. Josh Austin

In this video, Dr. Austin demonstrates the step-by-step process of restoring a patient’s smile with four anterior ceramic crowns. After removing the existing crowns and re-prepping the teeth, provisionals were made using Tuff-Temp Plus. Two weeks later, the final restorations were seated using ACTIVA BioACTIVE Cement, offering strong adhesion, easy cleanup, and bioactive benefits. From start to finish, see how these Pulpdent materials helped create a smooth, efficient workflow and beautiful, long-lasting results.

Why Do We Need Bioactive Dental Cements?

In this video we explore how ACTIVA BioACTIVE-CEMENT addresses the primary reason for failure over the long term. ACTIVA BioACTIVE-CEMENT is in Pulpdent’s line of bioactive products. Indicated for indirect applications, the cement stimulates mineral apatite formation at the material-tooth interface. This natural remineralization process knits together the restoration and the tooth, penetrates and fills micro-cracks, reduces sensitivity, guards against recurrent caries, and seals margins against microleakage and failure.

MECHANICAL PROPERTIES:

STRONG & UNIVERSAL(1)

ACTIVA BioACTIVE-CEMENT can be bonded like a resin cement and has ionic benefits like an RMGI cement.

Shear bond strength of ACTIVA BioACTIVE-CEMENT compares favorably with leading cements and is superior to RMGI and calcium aluminate-glass ionomer cements tested.

RESISTS FRACTURE

Thanks to MODULUS™ elastomeric flexion technology, ACTIVA withstands intraoral forces, flexing rather than cracking.

ACTIVA’s rubberized resin component provides unparalleled toughness and resilience. Toughness, measured by deflection at break using a 3-point bend test, is the ability of a strong, hard material to absorb stress, dissipate forces and resist fracture when a load is applied. Fatigue limit is determined by the incremental load required to cause fracture within a defined number of cycles.
Deflection at Break of ACTIVA is 2-3 times greater than composites and 5-10 times greater than GIs and RMGIs.

CALCIUM, FLUORIDE & PHOSPHATE RELEASE/RECHARGE:

The following graphs show the release and recharge of calcium, phosphate and fluoride from four restorative materials. ACTIVA BioACTIVE-RESTORATIVE (as well as the rest of the ACTIVA BioACTIVE family) display a continuous release and recharge of these essential minerals, which are naturally occurring in the saliva and are supplemented by dietary sources and release from ACTIVA. This diffusion of ions is only available in materials that can transport water. Traditional hydrophobic materials are passive and do not have the capacity for this dynamic behavior.
