THE BIOACTIVE DIFFERENCE

CUMULATIVE ION RELEASE/RECHARGE

ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE participates in a dynamic process of ionic exchange with saliva and tooth structure, continuously releasing and recharging calcium, phosphate and fluoride ions and reacting to pH changes in the mouth.7,8,9

MINERAL APATITE FORMATION2

Through ionic activity, ACTIVA BioACTIVE supports the natural process of apatite formation. The apatite stabilizes the bonding agent/hybrid layer, the weakest point of any restoration. Ionic activity also modulates biofilm formation. The result is active defense against microleakage, bacterial incursion, and secondary caries.3

EXCEPTIONAL MICROLEAKAGE PROTECTION

In a recent 60-day university study of prepared composite-tooth restorations exposed to experimental cariogenic conditions,* ACTIVA BioACTIVE Bulk Flow experienced the lowest incidence of microleakage (highest success rate/protection against microleakage) compared to competitors and traditional resin composite technologies. Sample survival rates after 60 days are shown here.

    FAQs

What is ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow?

ACTIVA BioACTIVE is a unique resin based composite augmented with a small amount of glass ionomer. A new category of biomaterial, closest to the physical properties and compatibility uses of a composite, with unique capabilities of remineralization support, mineral apatite formation, and biofilm modulation primarily from Pulpdent’s proprietary ionic polymer matrix (ION-X™) technology.

Which adhesive/bonding systems are compatible with ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow?

ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow is compatible with all adhesive systems, including total etch (etch & rinse), self-etch and selective-etch (Universal) systems.

Will an adhesive or bonding system interfere with bioactive remineralization support?

ACTIVA’s remineralization support works with (by stabilizing and reinforcing) and through the adhesive/hybrid layer. ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow should always be used with an adhesive.

Do you need to use a capping layer of universal composite on the occlusal?

No, ACTIVA BioACTIVE is engineered to have excellent wear resistance (see third party independent chewing simulation data) without the need for any capping layer. However, clinicians may choose to do so if desired based on their clinical judgment and technique preferences.

Which functional monomer technologies are present in ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow?

ION-X™ hydrophilic ionic matrix, WETBOND™ Moisture-tolerant acidic functional monomer, and MODULUS™ elastomeric functional monomer (Anti-stress & fracture resistance).

What is the difference between ACTIVA KIDS BioACTIVE Bulk Flow and ACTIVA BioACTIVE Restorative?

Primarily handling and viscosity. Bulk Flow is self-leveling and has higher flow rate and comes in a smaller plunger-style syringe (3ml/5gm). Restorative is stackable and higher viscosity, and comes in a larger syringe (5ml/8gm) and requires the use of a dispenser.
